Dassault reveals Version 6 for web 17/10/2007

Bernard Charlès, president and CEO of Dassault Systèmes revealed that the Version 6 editions of the company’s products, “Will be the versions for all online applications”.

Speaking at the just held Delmia European Customer Conference in Stuttgart, he described a vision in which, “The future of collaboration is to virtually imagine, share and experiment. I think the web is going to be a new way to share information”.

Getting him down to specifics afterwards, he revealed that, “The first release, its going to be much more powerful than Google Sketch” and we gathered, will work with Google Earth. He also foresaw an online version of Catia, predicting, that “You will do part modelling online” on Dassault owned hardware because, “Some companies [he clearly meant small ones] do not have their own servers”, also, “When you are travelling, you may not be able to access your company servers. We want to address new markets.” When we asked about an online version of Delmia, he said that, “I think you will see online subscription simulation but I am not sure about this, it needs a lot of computing power”.
