GEZE switches to PDM solution for centralised design to production 09/11/2007

German door, window and safety technology developer GEZE has bought more than 50 licenses of CoCreate (now PTC) OneSpace Model Manager to spread design information around the company.

The company says that all 45 members of the design department will now use the software to access 2D drawings and 3D models designed with CoCreate OneSpace Modeling, while sales, purchasing, work preparation and production will use floating licenses for access to the same information.

GEZE is best known for its innovative approach and custom work, particularly with international construction projects, such as the Children's Science City in Dubai and the Red Bull Hangar in Salzburg.

Ralf Roth, CAD administrator at GEZE, cites several reasons for using OneSpace Model Manager. First, he expects it to improve productivity, as partial loading and streamlined models simplify work with large components. Second, it gives easy access to current information for departments beyond design. Third, it provides improved features, such as generation of PDF files and exchange formats, like DXF and DWG, already in the base package, with modules to optimise and automate the process.

“OneSpace Model Manager has also significantly simplified our planned connection to SAP, so that we can guarantee an integrated PLM [product lifecycle management] processes in the company,” says Roth.
