Love Truck sticks metal to ceramic 14/01/2008

epoxy Glass ceramics tiles have been stuck to the bodywork of a standard Nissan diesel pick up truck so it could be used as the “Tiki Love Truck” in art car parades – popular in the US but only introduced to the UK in Manchester in 2007.

This particular design was conceived by Baroness von Reichardt, who based it around the Tiki symbology of a large, carved talisman in humanoid form, common to Polynesian cultures in the Pacific.

The Baroness “Googled” adhesives and ended up discussing the project with technical advisors from Intertronics, which suggested using Adhere IRS 2125 flexible epoxy adhesive, which is a black resin system with a combination of flexibility and high adhesion strength on metal, glass, rubber and many plastics, including cable insulation and connector back shells at temperatures up to 150ºC.
