John Morse addresses ‘Automation for the Future’ on 16 July in Cambridge
A leading authority on automation systems will tackle the subject of Industrial Ethernet at next month’s Automation for the Future Design Day.
John Morse, senior market analyst at IMS Research, will explain some of the different ‘flavours’ of Industrial Ethernet – such as CC-Link and EtherCAT. A number of specific examples – such as a high-speed printing machine – will illustrate how Industrial Ethernet can help designers to build better machines.
Morse will also address the growing number of components – be they drives, motion controllers or PLCs – that are becoming ‘Ethernet enabled’.
Automation for the Future, organised by Eureka, will help delegates to understand some of the key areas of automation, including encoders, drives and system design.
Other speakers at the event include: Ludwig Schmidt of Heidenhain, on the importance of absolute encoders; Festo’s Nigel Dawson, on the likely future automation needs within product handling; and Gareth Jones of Control Techniques, on when to integrate intelligence into drives; and special effect expert Jamie Campbell, who will explain how he helped to create an 8m-high animatronic figure in just eight weeks.
