According to a study undertaken by MarketLab, on the usefulness of the products made by 3Dconnexion, 83 per cent of the 190 users surveyed in the USA indicated that a 3D mouse’s 6 degree of freedom of navigation was, “Very useful” or “Extremely useful”
and 49 per cent found it to be “Extremely useful”.
Concerning working simultaneously with both hands, 75 per cent found this to be at least “Very useful” while 49 per cent found it to be, “Extremely useful”. In addition, 85 per cent saw a “Noticeable” or “Significant” improvement in their product designs while 84 per cent thought they could “Noticeably” or “Significantly” improve their detection of errors. As regards productivity, more than 86 per cent of users reported productivity increases, ranging from under 10 per cent to more than 50 per cent.
Users polled worked in companies ranging from those with fewer than 10 CAD design engineers up to companies with more than 500. CAD applications included: Catia, Autodesk Inventor, NX, Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks.
