The magnetic gas free refrigeration technology described in the February 2007 edition of Eureka has just been ranked top of its category in the Guardian/Library House “Cleantech 100” as an exemplar of a high growth potential company capable of delivering a strong positive impact on the environment.
The 100 European companies that make up the list are selected by an advisory board of investors on the basis of: marketability, high growth potential, green impact and ability to disrupt the market. When we met Camfridge’s director of business development Alessandro Pastore and managing director Neil Wilson at the just held “Tigers of Tomorrow” event at Cambridge, they showed us a mock-up of their new and much smaller refrigeration unit and told us that while they were still a “Minimum of about two years away from production” they were now, “Talking to appliance manufacturers”.
Advantages of the device over conventional refrigeration systems are: a potential 50 per cent reduction in energy consumption; gas free, cost competitive; reduced maintenance, reduced noise and recyclability.
