New converter switches allow industrial installations with multi-mode fibre to achieve 2km Gigabit connectivity.
CSG14 switches from GarrettCom Europe include two 10/100/1000 copper ports and a Gb fibre port that can be configured to support any multi-mode or single-mode Gb fibre connector type and are available in three versions.
 One is industrially hardened for use on factory floors, one is premium rated to withstand outdoor temperature extremes, while the third is Power over Ethernet rated for harsh area and outdoor applications that require both power and data on the same wire.
“The performance benefits of industrial Ethernet have seen it become the technology of choice in networking applications where high volumes of information need to be sent at high speed,” said David Moss, business development manager at GarrettCom Europe.
