The tough economic climate is bringing out the best in family-run North Yorkshire firm, Addington Engineering.

Automated adhesive saves BMW moneyThe Richmond-based company has delivered a servo driven MK2009 XY Table Positioning System, developed for an automotive supplier. The module applies polyurethane beading to the exact standards required by motor manufacturer BMW. It will be used to fix automotive components, such as rain sensor brackets and positional camera brackets, on the cars.

Addington Engineering's managing director Craig Vine said: "The XY Table is remarkably adaptable. It can have uses throughout the manufacturing and engineering industry. It will help automate labour intensive processes and improve efficiency of existing processes, leading to increased productivity.

"We listen to our customers' manufacturing problems and solve then by designing equipment to allow them to increase capacity, reduce costs and improve the quality of their products."

The system can also be used on other production line applications and can be simply programmed for any bead path, not only for polyurethane but any adhesive.
