South Korean engineers brought two remarkable robots to the just held Hannover Fair: one a very human looking girl singer, and the other, a humanoid robot that could walk up to somebody and shake their hand.

Robots show the human touch

The singer robot exploited traditional female Korean national costume to conceal wheels beneath its skirt, but used robotics to not only move its arms and body, but to reproduce complex human facial expressions to accompany its singing. Its developers In the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology have given it the name, EveR-3. It debuted with human actors in the National Theater of Korea on February 18th 2009.

The humanoid robot is designated HUBO, and as well as being able to walk, showed itself able to shake the hands of visitors to the stand.
