According to from Alpha Micro Components, instant wireless connectivity can now be built seamlessly into existing applications using its iTegno range of GSM/GPRS modems.
 It is suitable for customers that already have an existing solution in place but want to expand its functionality. The iTegno range of the 3832, 3845 serial and 3800 USB GSM/GPRS modems are designed for smart metering, POS, text marketing, security and remote monitoring applications. The range has been created to enable customers to wirelessly access the Internet, make voice calls and send and receive text alerts, faxes and emails, even where there is no internet or broadband connection.
The iTegno 3832 and 3845 serial GSM/GPRS modems feature an external antenna, allowing users to position the antenna to optimise signal quality for any given application. Measuring 93 x 64 x 12mm, the 3832 and 3845 iTegno modems weigh 58g and feature a RS-232 interface, which combines both the serial link and power supply through PIN 1 of the RJ45.
The modems are compatible with all laptops, PCs, and industrial computers which have a serial port. The full range of modems is installed with WIN 98SE, 2000, ME or XP. Drivers for Linux and Mac OS are available for development purposes.
