An LCD screen that tracks up to 10 individual fingers at once has been developed by 3M Touch Systems.
The development could be ideal for collaborative design by a team of engineers, as they can gather round a touch screen and simultaneously sketch concepts. The Microsoft Surface, a touch screen table, facilitates a similar philosophy.
The 3M Multi-touch Developer Kit is a 19-inch wide-aspect ratio LCD display featuring 3M Projected Capacitive touch technology. It supports standard flick and scale gestures, as well as accurately tracking 10 individual fingers from single or multiple users at the same time. The display has a durable glass surface and less than 15 milliseconds touch response.
Paolo Pedrazzoli, marketing operations manager, 3M Touch Systems: "This is an exciting new milestone in the evolution of touch screen functionality."
