Parker Hannifin Corporation's Electromechanical Division is to phase out manufacturing at its Poole plant. Mark Fletcher reports
.
Production will be transferred to locations in Germany and Italy by the end of September 2003. However, customer services, sales and support departments will remain in place in order to cater for the service needs of the UK market.
According to general manager Nigel Allman, the decision was made reluctantly, but it was necessary to eliminate duplication of manufacturing capacity in a time of increased pressure.
