Two Autodesk resellers, Imass Design Solutions and Trionics, have relaunced as a single company to become Europe's largest reseller. The new company will be called Symetri.

Imass and Trionics relaunch as SymetriThe new name and branding was unveiled at a customer conference in Sheffield, following a strategic agreement earlier in the year. Like the former Imass Design Solutions, the newly-formed division is a business unit of Infoterra Ltd, part of EADS Astrium.

Symetri already supports 32% of Autodesk's installed manufacturing base across the UK making it the largest Autodesk manufacturing solutions reseller in Northern Europe. Both Imass and Trionics are known for their long standing experience in the manufacturing CAD sector, covering a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, renewables, nuclear, heavy machinery and automotive components.

It is intended that, by combining their expertise, together with their consulting and technical skills, the new organisation will offer an unparalleled service to both new and existing customers.

Imass Design Solutions' Colin Watson, director responsible for Symetri, says: "We're investing in building a business that's second to none. Creating a new brand is very exciting, it's not just a name change – it's about having more experience, being best-in-class and providing strong support to our customers. We want them to ask themselves why they would do business with anyone else."

Kevin Ison, European Customer and Industry Marketing Director at Autodesk, was among the first to welcome the new organisation: "Autodesk views the integration of Imass Design Solutions and Trionics as an exciting development in our world-class channel. Customers of Symetri can expect a focus on delivering best-in-class technical consultancy, training and design solutions. I am sure Colin Watson and his team will continue with the excellent levels of service and support that customers of both companies have come to expect."

A 100-strong audience of Autodesk manufacturing solutions customers at the Sheffield meeting heard an overview by Dave Fox, CEO of Infoterra Ltd, who discussed the reasons for combining forces, the range of products and services available from the wider organisation and his vision for the new Symetri brand across its wider customer base.

"With the growing use of digital prototyping and other technological advances, it is a time of change and progress in manufacturing design," said Dave Fox. "By creating this powerful new entity, we are poised to maximise this potential – helping not only to expand our business further, but that of our customers too."

Special guest speaker, Amy Bunszel, Autodesk's Director of Digital Engineering Product Line Group, delivered a keynote speech outlining affordable innovation and practical ways to leverage the Autodesk Digital Prototyping solution to prepare for the future.

Bunszel discussed ways to drive innovation and save money by getting more out of digital prototyping. Bunszel's team is responsible for product strategy and development for design engineering users, including Autodesk Inventor, the foundation for digital prototyping, and AutoCAD Electrical.
