IFM Electronic has announced a new range of tiny photocells, designed to detect small objects accurately from a distance, where space is an issue.

IFM announces newest range of tiny photocellsThe O7 series of photoelectric sensors has been designed to detect small parts in tight spaces for applications such as part feeding and handling machines.
The overall dimensions are 15 x 20 x 9mm, while the sensing axis means, front to back, the sensor depth of 9mm allows more room for manoeuvre.

IFM says that the small visible light spot allows the detection of small objects with high precision. With their fixed setting, the sensors are ready for operation immediately after installation.

The O7 sensors are available as diffuse reflection sensors with background suppression, retro-reflective sensors with polarisation filter or as through-beam transmitters or receivers.

The background-suppressed diffuse variants incorporate three different fixed ranges of 30, 50 and 100mm, while retroreflective units work up to 1m, and 1.5m. According to IGM, this is achieved with the separate transmitter/receiver through-beam. In each case the light/dark switching function is provided by the unit selection.

Suitable for operation in industrial conditions, functions are guaranteed from -25 to 60°C and the O7 photoelectric sensors are sealed to IP65.
