Isentropic, whose heat engine energy storage system and large area valves were featured in the January edition of Eureka, is to be one of 20 UK companies to take part in the Clean and Cool Mission 2010 to San Francisco from February 20th to 26th.

British heat engine aired in CaliforniaThe Mission is organised by the Technology Strategy Board, UK Trade and Investment, Polecat, Volans and Enterprise UK, and supported by Orrick, BP Alternative Energy and the Cleantech Group. It is seen as an opportunity for UK companies in the sector to showcase their technologies and work to start opening their businesses up to an international market.

Isentropic's pumped heat electrical energy storage (PHES) system is said by technical director, Jonathan Howes, to "Provide a cost-effective solution to the intermittency problems of renewable energy sources. Moreover, it has no geographical constraints, is compact, can demonstrate a round trip efficiency of 72% to 80% and has the lowest costs of any storage technology. The Clean and Cool Mission is an excellent opportunity not only to profile our own technology, but also to learn how others are responding to the fast-growing, cleantech market."
