When transporting copper tubes, it is usual to insert plastic plugs into the ends to prevent the ingress of dirt
Problem: . The normal design is tapered with a flange, so that plugs cannot get pushed right in and can easily be removed when no longer required. Unfortunately, these plugs partially stick out of the ends of the tubes, so they tend to get pried out when tubes move against each other.
Solution: Moss Plastic Parts has devised a finned plug that overcomes such problems, and at the same time, fits more than one diameter of tube.
The shank is cruciform in cross section, with three fins perpendicular to the axis. The lower two fins are thin and flexible, to accommodate different pipe diameters. Cut outs allow passage of air and further assist flexing. The top most disk is slightly more solid to close the hole. The device is fully inserted into the open tube end, and incorporates a small handle in its top which may be grasped between finger and thumb to assist easy removal.
