New package gives 1.5 axis servo control in minutes
14/03/2004 Email to a friend   Comment on this article
For users of its Unidrive SP (Solutions Platform) drive, Control Techniques has introduced ‘Motion Made Easy’ – a powerful, easy to use full 1.5 axis motion control module that simply ‘clicks’ into any one of three universal option slots on the drive.

New package gives 15 axis servo control in minutes

SM-EZMotion is a motion controller that simply plugs into the Unidrive SP with software, therefore taking up no extra cubicle space. With six high speed digital I/O points, as well as seven digital I/O and five analogue I/O that are standard on the Unidrive, the module has its own internal processor and provides 1.5 axis motion, synchronised to a reference encoder.

As well as saving space, the new package eliminates the need for extra cabling and reduces the chance of termination errors. And programming takes a matter of minutes since no special training is necessary.

SM-EZMotion gives rapid set-up; fill-in-the-dialogue-box programming that achieves motion profiles quickly and reliably for OEMs, integrators, machine builders and end users. The new package is ideal for things like conveyor synchronisation; electronic gearing or camming; flying cut-off; registration control; labelling and printing; phase synchronisation; rotary knives; slip compensation; and point-to-point positioning.
