Hertford-based couplings manufacturer Huco Engineering Components has developed a novel, plastic moulded coupling, originally conceived to connect long sections of shaft, that minimises the number of bearings needed to support these shafts, therefore reducing cost, weight and system complexity for OEMs and end users.
The new coupling is a two-piece single bellows design that is able to accommodate a +/- 2° angular misalignment. A key benefit of the design is that it is quick and easy to clamp around the shaft, providing both good support and positive engagement.
Although the majority of motion control requirements are easily met by Huco's standard miniature coupling range, the company sometimes has to take a non-standard approach to accommodate specific or unusual operating criteria. Hence, the new two-piece bellows coupling.
