Latching High Density Interface (HDI) 3-Way Solenoid Valve
20/09/2010 Email to a friend   Comment on this article
The Lee sub-miniature latching solenoid valve is specifically designed for applications that demand ultra-low power, low heat and small size. These features make the valve ideal for compact, battery powered pneumatic instruments such as portable oxygen delivery systems, environmental gas samplers, and other OEM flow switching devices.

Latching High Density Interface (HDI) 3 Way Solenoid ValveThe valve is magnetically latched and requires only momentary (10 ms) pulses of current to switch the state. It consumes only 5.5 milliwatt-sec per switch and has reliable bi-stable performance. The polarity of the voltage on the terminal pins controls the switched position. Available in plug-in, face mount and ported soft tube configurations, the valve measures just 1.12" long x 0.28" diameter for compact manifold applications. The latching valve also features a flow capacity of 6 slpm at 10 psig and a pressure range of 0-15 psig.

• Magnetically Latched Solenoid Valve
• Ultra Low Power Consumption & Heat Dissipation (5.5 milliwatt-sec per switch)
• Reliable Bi-Stable Switching
• Compact Size
• Available in 5, 12 and 24 vdc models
• Weighs less than 4.5 grams

The Lee Company offers an array of standard manifolds for testing as well as customer-designed manifold configurations for production. Performance parameters can be optimized for a specific application.

General Specifications
• Standard Voltages Available: 5, 12 and 24 vdc. Custom voltages available upon request.
• Flow Capacity (air): 1100 Lohms (6 SLPM at 10 psig; Cv = 0.018)
• Operating Pressure Range: Vac – 45 psig (0-15 psid)
• Leakage: Less than 50 mL/min at 5 psig (air) on the common port
• Ambient Operating Temperature Range: 40 °F - 120 °F (4 °C - 49 °C). Increasing the operating temperature range can limit the coil performance. Valve duty cycle must be evaluated for specific applications.
• Wetted Materials Suitable for Mild Liquids and Gases: Silicone or FKM Seal, 430F, 316 CRES, PBT, PPS and Epoxy Sealant
• Typical response time is 5ms at room temperature when flowing air at rated voltage.
• Recommended Filtration: 35 microns or better
• The valve may switch states when subjected to excessive shock or vibration.
