The LMT point level sensor from ifm electronic has been designed to suppress foam and deposits in the food manufacturing industry, in order to provide full or empty signals of tanks and ensure run-dry protection of pumps.
Using materials such as 316L stainless steel and PEEK, the sensor is said to meet all industry hygiene requirements, including EHEDG and 3A. With no moving parts and a smooth surface, ifm electronic claims it is 'virtually impossible' for residues to stick to or clog the sensor.
Flush sealing is ensured by pressing the PEEK tip onto the sealing edge of the adapter, which is said to avoid dead bands and contamination.
The LMT operates on a DC supply of 18 to 36V, has an IP rating up to 69K and temperature range covering -25 to 80dg. The connection uses an industry standard M12 connector to take the complementary open and closed PNP signals back to the panel.
