Cambridge Consultants has won the innovation award in this year's Queen's Award for Enterprise – having also won an international trade award two years ago.
 The company won this year's award for the development of the Prism 200, pictured, a handheld through wall radar device for counter terrorism work. The device provides quick and covert intelligence on the movement and location of people in a room or building, without the need for invasive sensors. It uses advanced signal processing to highlight moving people and objects in cluttered environments, through doors or brick, block and concrete walls.
Operators can switch between front, plan or profile views for a complete picture and can also observe the scenario in a 3d view, where the perspective can be rotated to look at a room or building from various vantage points. A Laptop application has been developed that enables the device to remotely monitor and record the intelligence gathered, allowing Special Forces or Police Special Operation teams to deploy the Prism 200 through wall radar and monitor the intelligence from a safe distance.
Dr Brian Moon, Cambridge Consultants' chief executive, said: "We are delighted to have been bestowed with this prestigious award not once but twice."
