Why you need igus chainflex cables
04/10/2011 Email to a friend   Comment on this article

Energy chain expert igus UK has specialised in plastic energy chains and flexible cables for many years, introducing the first range of dynamically flexible cables for energy chains in 1989.

Since then, through material and design developments and exhaustive testing, igus has become the market leader in this field.

But what is a chainflex cable and why do you need one?

Justin Leonard, igus product director for chainflex cables, explains more in this video designed to be a basic introduction and overview to this subject.

In this video he explains the design features that make standard electrical cables unsuitable for use in constant flexing applications, and the failures and faults that can arise. He also explains more about the design features and materials needed to produce a cable that will perform well for a long service life and the benefits for the end user. Finally, he shows examples of the vast chainflex cable product range igus UK has on offer from stock.
