Autodesk has previewed a new cloud based PLM solution, which it claims will transform the way manufacturers manage the entire lifecycle of a product.
Autodesk 360 for PLM is targeted at companies of all sizes and is expected to be generally available early next year. It is being offered as a cheaper, easier to implement alternative to traditional PLM solutions.
"Our approach to PLM is a sharp contrast to the decades old technology in the market today," said Robert Kross, senior vp, Manufacturing Industry Group at Autodesk. "Autodesk 360 for PLM will enable customers of all sizes to achieve the full promise of PLM with a scalable, configurable and intuitive solution. We believe it will help our customers achieve a measurable competitive advantage through better, more accessible collaboration and business information management."
The new platoform will comprise Autodesk 360 Nexus, Autodesk Vault and Autodesk Buzzsaw.
Autodesk 360 Nexus is a new cloud based solution yet to be released by the company that will anchor the new platform with simple software. This, according to Kross, means users can access the new PLM solution wherever they are.
