Ixthus Instrumentation has launched a new non-contacting precision torque sensor with optional measurement of shaft angle and speed.
Available from the company's distribution partner Burster, the 8661 series is designed to provide precise and convenient measurement of static and bi-directional rotating torques from 0 to 0.05Nm and 0 to 200Nm. Full-scale accuracy is rated at 0.05%.
Target applications for the new devices include precision micro-mechanics, electric motor test beds and bearing test stands. An integrally mounted optical encoder option has been implemented to provide additional angular position measurement to 0.09° with rotational speed feedback.
The 8661 series is available in a choice of torque measurement ranges and is supplied with integral shaft drive assemblies. Adapters for direct mounting on the mechanical structure are also available for higher speeds and higher torque use.
The high resolution sensor features a 16bit D/A converter and metal film strain gauges. A choice of output includes 0 to 10 VDC or USB, which is used with supplied pc software to allow users to directly read information in a dedicated GUI.
The analogue output version is said to be fully compatible with Burster and other manufacturers displays, whilst the USB option is targeted at portable field-based measurement. A 3-LED display provides operational status information.
