London taxis wash with Eastern promise 20/02/2006

London taxi cabs are keeping the windscreens thanks to washer tanks made in Pakistan.

The washer tanks were not only blow moulded by Thermosole, a company based in Lahore, but also redesigned by them, according to Chief Executive Syed Nabeel Hashmi. Mr Hashmi told us that he particularly likes working with British companies because their engineers are empowered to take decisions and open to ideas and suggestions as to how to improve what goes into their products. In the case the washer tanks, supplied to Metrocab, Thermosole suggested changing the design to make them more easily blow mouldable, and to attach them to their supports using bolts instead of latching them to ensure firm attachment.

Pakistan has an increasing number of companies able to function as Tier 1 suppliers and capable of undertaking design work. Thermosole is ISO9000 registered and equipped with Delcam Power Shape, Delcam Power Mill, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, SmartCAM and Catia. The company has both blow moulding and injection moulding equipment and makes air conditioning ducting systems, radiator tanks, engine resonators, fuel tanks, thermostat housings for engine cooling systems, interior body panels and trims, engine radiator fans and expansion tanks.
