A simple device that fits over a caravan handle lock greatly improves security
, but does not affect it from the inside.
The 'Brightlock' makes caravans and motorhomes more secure, as the locks they use can usually be broken into in a few seconds, using a modified screwdriver. The device, which exists as a stereolithography rapid prototyped mockup, is a shield that slips over the handle and lock. It incorporates a 'Camlock' that is inserted across the width of the device, going inside the handle. No drilling or fitting is required. It is not easy to break into a Camlock, with its annular aperture. Production units will be made in aluminium alloy.
An added advantage is that if somebody is inside the caravan when the shield is secured, they can still get out in an emergency.
