Chain doubles its lifespan

The seventh generation of Tsubaki’s RS roller chain has twice the wear life of its predecessor, thanks to a new bushing system.
The bushings on the company’s G7 chain are made using a new production technique, allowing a series of grooves to be incorporated on the inner surface of a cold forged, extruded bush. This results in a very precise cylindrical profile, ensuring better surface contact between the pin and bushing – and improved lubricant retention.
The patented design lube groove bush (LG) ensures that the chain is optimally lubricated, particularly in real world conditions where inconsistent external lubrication is a factor.
Tsubaki claims a doubling of lifespan compared to its previous generation of Ansi-standard chain, and up to four times longer than some similarly priced alternatives from other manufacturers.
Rigorous testing has resulted in an increased kW rating. Tsubaki claims it is 33% higher for all chain sizes in the range from RS80 to RS240. ISO standards for fatigue testing link plates now include a cyclic fatigue test, rather than a test just for linear tensile strength. It requires a 5 million cycle test, but Tsubaki tests to 10m cycles.
