Dassault is bringing out a light weight PLM browser that allows users to query designs and potential problems through a series of interactive virtual 3D turntables of exploded products, parts and factory layouts.
3Dlive, which is to go live and become commercially available in late June 2007, is envisaged as something that any user can have on his or her laptop, and address that sinking feeling that one often when one has time to think, such as when waiting for a plane at an airport terminal, that something may not have been done that should have been done.
It will only require a 14MB live download, and the version recently demonstrated to a group of journalists in a London pub was using 2MB of broadband and was happily able to run on the landlord’s WiFi hub.
The application works with Enovia, Delmia and Catia. Features include a “3D Compass” to guide the users through the company’s 3D PLM universe, and “3D Heads-up”, which enables online instant messaging.
