Informal chats, propping up the bar and being sent to Coventry...
It's here again and today, I'll be heading down to Coventry in the advanced party to the Engineering Design Show to set up, prop up the bar, and get ready for two pretty full on days.
From an editors point of view it's an intensive experience, but one that usually sets me up, at least, for the next few months in terms of stories and perhaps more importantly the thoughts, feelings and trends of UK engineers and the market at large.
I don't get the time, these days, to go to as many shows as I'd like, so consequently, it is a chance to have a chat, most of the time rather informally, to everybody from all industries great and small about their thoughts and feelings of the year ahead and the year gone by.
A close relationship with readers, and the industries we represent is vital, so it is important to voice concerns and also shout about successes in markets home and abroad, as well as technology breakthroughs and that all important innovation.
So if you plan on coming along, come and say hello. I'll be on Workshop Theatre 2 for much of the two days, but otherwise keep an eye out for the curly hair and sideburns (see above). Come and share your experiences with me, your concerns for the future and what you hope to achieve in the next 12 months.
See you there.
