Onwards and upwards...
It was a year ago that we were getting ready to launch the very first issue of Engineering Materials to the market. Though slightly nervous, we were sure that the concept for the magazine was a great one.
The feedback has been excellent and as a result we've decided to launch Engineering Materials Live! in association with the Engineering Design Show.
Like the magazine and website, we hope it will be the place to find out about all the things happening in the materials world.
Every material type including composites, plastics, metals, coatings, ceramic, additive manufacturing, and more will be present and represented, with fastening and joining experts available to talk you through how to bring them all together. Material selection gurus will be there to help you identify the best materials for specific applications and the issues associated with changing material types and specification.
Engineering Materials Live! is a chance to talk one-to-one about your design and material problems, issues and quandaries, and find solutions that add value and innovation to your products.
We have some of the biggest and best manufacturers and suppliers in the country on hand and I lay down this open challenge; come to the show with problems, question and material issues. I bet you'll find the solution. If you don't, come and find me and I will personally identify and introduce you to the relevant expert to talk too.
We will continue to bring you the improvements, issues and applications that can inspire and help solve the big issues of today, and push the mantra of using the right material for the right application.
And if you have an interesting application of materials then perhaps it is time to shout about it. The British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs) has begun its annual call for entries this month with a new category: Material(s) Application of the Year. In its fifth year, the Awards want to recognise the increasing role materials play for engineers in finding innovative solution.
If you have not had chance to read it yet our Summer Issue is our best issue yet. If you have not received a copy why not request one via the website or see what you have missed online. We'll be posting more stories everyday to the website to make sure it continues to be packed full of articles and updates of where materials are being used to solve problems and create solutions, as well as the latest material issues, trends and updates. We hope you enjoy.
