Partnership brings gesture recognition to cars

Videantis and Gestigon have collaborated to team Videantis's low-power vision processing IP platform with Gestigon's skeleton tracking and gesture recognition algorithms, with a view to bringing gesture and pose recognition technology to the automotive market.

Image sensors are used in cars, including depth-sensing technologies, and can be used for skeleton tracking inside and around the car. The driver and passenger's poses, behaviour, and signals can be used for conventional gesture control but also for more advanced, UX-focused comfort and security features.

The scalable, efficient processor IP already powers millions of cars on the road, and can be used in the low-power implementations of the algorithms. The companies have already built a network among global automotive Tier 1 customers and OEMs.
