174 teams from Universities in over 30 countries will meet to compete in the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Formula Student competition at Silverstone. The University of Sunderland racing team, SU Racing, has competed in formula Student since 2003 and will unveil its 2016 race car at MENE in the week immediately preceding the competition, which will be held from 13-17 July 2016.

Formula Student is Europe's most established educational motorsport competition, run by the IMechE. Backed by industry and high profile engineers such as the competition Patron Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to inspire and develop enterprising and innovative young engineers.

Universities from across the globe are challenged to design and build a single-seat racing car in order to compete in static and dynamic events, which demonstrate their understanding and test the performance of the vehicle.
