Curtiss-Wright Corporation has announced the EL120 explosion-proof linear actuator has been added to Exlar's line of linear actuators. The EL120 linear actuator meets ATEX requirements for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The EL120 offers a combination of speed (up to 950mm/s), performance, and accuracy and are suited for applications such as valve, damper and gas turbine control, printing presses, engine test stands and shipboard fuel management. Performance is achieved with respect to speed, linearity, load sensitivity, deadband, and temperature range.

Able to withstand forces of up to 17kN and with stroke lengths of 455mm, Exlar servo-electromechanical systems offer a replacement for hydraulic actuation and a longer life alternative to pneumatic actuation.

Available with several mounting configurations, the EL Series of linear actuators integrate a planetary roller screw mechanism with a high torque servomotor in a single self-contained package sealed to IP66 standards.
