Automatically optimised microstepping drive

Astrosyn has released the P756, a compact drive incorporating automatically optimised microstepping. This feature is claimed to ensure smooth, low speed operation said to reduce mechanical wear and increase the service life of the motor drive train. Stepper motors driven by the P756 are claimed to achieve both high angular resolution and low levels of noise and vibration.

Rated for a working voltage of 24 to 75Vdc, the P756 incorporates sixteen levels of microstepping resolution down to a minimum of 51,200 steps per rotation. A drive current range from 2.5 to 6A/phase makes the module suitable for high power applications, and both small and large stepper motor frame sizes.

The P756 incorporates a self-test function to monitor drive performance, an alarm output signal, input signal filtering, and auto-current reduction. It is also said to feature protection against out-of-range voltage and current inputs. The drive is available in a of 34 x 123mm fascia, with a rear projection of 78mm.
