Nanometre resolution capacitive system with multi-channel measurement capability and Ethernet interface

Micro-Epsilon has launched a capacitive controller and demodulator for use with its range of non-contact capacitive displacement and position sensors, providing a modular, extremely compact, expandable and cost effective measurement system for R&D, test and OEM environments.

Micro-Epsilon's new capaNCDT 6200 is an integrated measuring system that includes a control unit, demodulator and Ethernet interface, supporting fast and easy configuration through a web browser. The capaNCDT 6200 allows up to four additional measurement channels to be added (or removed) to the base controller unit without any loss of performance or disruption. Any Micro-Epsilon capacitive displacement sensor can be connected to the controller without any additional calibration required. The modular, flexible controller is supported by various mounting options, including benchtop mounting (as standard) and top hat/DIN rail mounting on equipment racks and control cabinets. Like many other Micro-Epsilon products, the new CapaNCDT 6200 has an Ethernet interface allowing simple configuration and measurement using a web interface. No additional software has to be installed. With easy integration into the existing network, the Ethernet interface also maximises the accuracy of the measurement readings as there is no signal 'noise' or loss in the signal compared with analogue outputs, resulting in true nanometre resolutions. Custom parameters such as speed, bandwidth and specific filters can also be stored on the controller, which improves the accuracy of the measurement results. There are also mathematical functions for thickness or differential applications. The measurement system is therefore ideal for R&D and test, OEM and production environments, where either flexibility to expand the measurement system and/or high precision measurement is key. The capaNCDT 6200 measurement system can be used in a variety of non-contact displacement, position and distance measurement applications, including the measurement of thickness, tilt angle and vibration. Measuring ranges are from 0.05mm to 10mm. Resolution is down to 0.002µm. As a multi-channel device with nanometer accuracy, the capaNCDT6200 provides simple, competitively priced and expandable measurement technology that doesn't compromise performance.
