Easy assembly, low-cost cracked hub jaw couplings

KTR's ROTEX S-H is a cost effective solution for power transmission applications with limited assembly space. The cracked cast iron hubs of the S-H design feature a 4-screw drop out assembly eliminating the need to shift drive or driven ends, thus ensuring alignment of the system is maintained.

In production the hubs of the ROTEX are machined with a minimum dimension pilot bore featuring a small horizontal groove which is used to produce a precision split of the hub. The result is two hub halves with unique pairing characteristics which can only be used in conjunction with their original partner. The two partner halves can be identified but their corresponding and identical numbers, which are added during manufacturing. The S-H coupling is ATEX approved, available in cast iron material and features all of the beneficial characteristics of the standard ROTEX jaw coupling design, preferred in industry since it's initial design by KTR in 1965. The ROTEX design offers torsional flexibility, for positive torque transmission, with effective damping of operational vibrations and shocks and capable of handling axial, radial and angular misalignment. Polyurethane inserts of 95 and 98 Shore A hardness, and 64 Shore D (Green) hardness, are offered as standard, allowing the coupling to achieve a power range of between 7.5 – 4500 T¬KN for sizes 14 through 90. KTR has also recently improved the performance and working life of its "spider" inserts by utilising the new T-PUR material. The new polyurethane composition of T-PUR has increased the durability of the spiders while increasing the acceptable working temperature range of the material from -50°to 120°C.
