Precise linear motion in a compact package

The PLS-80 linear stage from PI is a compact motor driven platform offering up to 155mm of travel with exceptional 0.05µm uni-directional repeatability. Driven by either DC servo or two phase stepper drives and with crossed roller bearings for high guiding stiffness the stage provides precise, industrial grade performance and is ideal for applications where space is a premium.

Where multiple axes are required the stage can be configured as an XY or XYZ assembly. Multi-axis control platforms that provide linear interpolation and vector move capability and are based on a range of industry standards including Galil, Delta Tau and PI's own GCS can be provided as part of a complete solution.

The PLS-80 stage has a load capacity of 10kg, a maximum velocity of 100mm/s and is supplied as standard with adjustable limit switches. The highest precision is achieved with an optional integrated linear scale which directly measures the position of the moving platform. Vacuum compatible versions of the stage are also available.

The stage is one of a wide variety of linear positioner designs available from the PI portfolio. The range extends from low cost, low duty cycle platforms for scientific research through to high load capacity long travel stages for the most demanding industrial applications.
