If you need a reason to enter this year’s Innovation & Design Excellence Awards (iDEAs), here’s the view of one of last year’s winners.

“The assessment team’s visit was invaluable and made us question what we were doing as a business,” said Steve Lane, commercial manager of Triteq.

iDEA and its sister scheme, the Best Factory Awards (BFA), are the only engineering awards to assess winners based on a judging visit – rather than written entries alone.

It’s no secret that the entry process is rigorous – but we recognise that people may have limited time to put together an application. For this reason, entry forms are now available online. They can also be completed in two parts.

Traditionalists are still welcome to make a complete application using the printed form (available from Maggie Bridge at m.bridge@cranfield.ac.uk). Entrants have until the end of May to complete their entries.

This month’s Innovation Conference (24 April in Daventry) includes a special ‘Meet the Judges’ session, in which you can ask specific questions on the structure of the awards and the entry process. The programme includes several of last year’s winners, including Steve Lane. You can book a place by clicking here.
