BEEAs finalist Matthew Luethi blogs his subsequent progress with his silent vertical axis wind turbines

We had an exceptional good meeting with Hisko Baas from www.iq-systemhaus.com, part of www.iq-wireless.com, and the UK mast manufacturer CU Phosco.

Hisko represents a very grand concept, which has been developed by German Aerospace and the University of Berlin. They will install the first FireWatch units before December in Australia as a pilot project, personally launched by their prime minister. They have successfully installed 197 units in the world, most of them in Germany so far. CU Phosco will have my demonstration unit on their site, to see how it works as many other companies burned their fingers several times on other wind turbine projects. If they like what they see, they will reverse engineer my turbine for this mutual project. Hisko has offered to pay for the manufacturing of a turbine, shipping it to Berlin to test the performance as they think this is one of the best concepts of turbines they have aeen so far. IQ Wireless needs a good turbine amongst others for their telecommunication projects in the Middle East as they have too many power cuts, especially in Syria. I must say I also was Impressed with CU Phosco. I never experienced such teamwork. Also their products and attention to details as well! They have their own systems to install 50 meter masts without large concrete foundations. Our last hour of the meeting was with about 10 members of the company from the owner to the designer and installation gang leader; so everyone will be informed of the tasks and project.
