Golf ball inspired TurboSpeed suit could give athletes a competitive edge

An ultra lightweight tracksuit designed to give professional athletes an advantage over their rivals has been unveiled by Nike.

The product of more than 1,000 hours of wind tunnel testing, the Nike Pro TurboSpeed is dimpled like a golf ball to help reduce the aerodynamic drag of the sprinter and shave milliseconds off of their time. The suit utilises Nike's 'revolutionary' AeroSwift technology to help keep the interior surface as smooth, even and uninterrupted as possible. By placing elastics and edge finishes on the outside of the garment and incorporating an innovative flat, smooth waistband, the company says bulkiness and abrasions are virtually eliminated. In addition, it claims the suit's golf ball-like dimpled surface, along with other innovative features, will enable runners to shave 0.023 seconds off of the time it takes to run 100m, which could mean the difference between first and second place.
