Saudi Arabia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Visits Indonesia

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Al-Khorayef, plans to visit Indonesia to cement investment in Indonesia’s industry and mining sectors.

The visit marks a turning point in the two countries relationship, with a focus on innovation, sustainable development and joint-ventures in high impact sectors.

Focus on Renewable Energy and Industrial Expertise 

Discussions around collaborations in renewable energy and sharing industrial expertise are expected to occur. The bilateral trade between the two countries reached more than $6bn in 2023.

Strategic Cooperation Across Key Sectors 

The visit will also provide strategic cooperation in the pharmaceuticals, food and automotive sectors.

During his visit, Khorayef will meet key officials from the public sector. He will also meet Indonesia’s Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources and Minister of Industry of Indonesia.

Engagement With Private Sector Leaders

He will also meet private sector leaders such as director and CEO of PT Vale Febriany Eddy and CEO of BioPharma, Shaqiq Akasya. Saudi Arabia has made investments in Indonesia’s private sector such as Vale Indonesia, the subsidiary of mining corporation Vale. Vale is a producer of nickel used in EV batteries.

Vision 2030 and the Push Toward Clean Energy Transition

This comes after Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda, where the country has proposed to invest more in EV technology towards the clean energy transition.
