Students meet prospective employers at Lincoln Engineering Fair

Lincoln College’s annual Engineering Fair played host to a number of big industry names including Siemens, British Sugar, the Royal Air Force and Fairfield Control Systems. The Engineering Fair is a chance for local engineering firms to meet students and make them aware of any vacancies or opportunities that are available, giving them the opportunity to land the job or apprenticeship of their dreams.

Tom Hancock, apprentice engineer at Siemens, said: “Studying an apprenticeship has given me the chance to get a good education whilst getting paid at the same time. It is opening up doors for the future and the course is really enjoyable, I like getting involved in real jobs and solving problems that I know will make a difference.”

Lincoln College Group business development manager Rachel May said: “Any engineering firms or firms from other sectors who missed the opportunity to exhibit today will get another opportunity during apprenticeship week. We’ll be holding an apprenticeship recruitment fair on Thursday March 9, so get in touch if you’d like a free stand.

The college will also host an Apprenticeship Levy Health Check event on Monday March 6 during National Apprenticeship Week. This joint event with NatWest Bank and Streets Chartered Accountants will have training experts and employment law specialists on hand to give bespoke consultancy to firms with a wage bill of over £3million.
