Ultra strong, eco-friendly building material

An Australian company called Zeo has developed and patented an ultra strong, eco-friendly building material, using only water and cellulose.

Dubbed Zeoform, the versatile new material is similar in look, feel and function to dense hardwood. Claimed to be as strong as ebony, it can be sprayed, moulded or formed into infinite shapes, sizes, colours and variations - including specialised substrates for unique applications in any industry requiring woods, plastics and resins for manufacturing. According to Zeo, the process used to create the material requires no glues, binders, chemicals or additive of any kind. "While rapidly diminishing resources of wood and environmentally damaging petrochemical derivatives are untenable as source materials into the future, Zeoform converts waste into a universal material that will replace most plastics, woods and composite materials used in manufacturing today," the company said in a statement.
