Bosch aims to tackle skills crisis with search for future engineers

Looking to tackle the growing skills crisis in the UK, Bosch has launched an essay writing competition for budding engineers aged 14 to 24.

The Bosch Technology Horizons Award 2012 is now open for online entries, with paid work experience and cash prizes for the winners. Questions this year concern environmental technology and the impact of engineering on the world of sport. "Robert Bosch had a vision to manufacture products which would help people in their everyday lives and we want to encourage young people to have a similar vision and understand the beneficial impact of technological innovation," said Peter Fouquet, president of Bosch in the UK. "The Bosch Technology Horizons Award is designed to show young people that engineering can be a worthwhile career which can make an enormous contribution to society and economic performance." Candidates can upload their entries online until 20 April 2012.
