3D Creation Lab reveal the head of a mummy

When we were approached by a friend of the Birmingham Museum Trust who have in their possession a Mummy still completely intact from about 320AD, an interesting task was presented to us. Nobody had ever seen beneath the wrapping until an MRI scan was carried out, but using the scan we worked with Nottingham University, to extract the data needed to create an STL file suitable for 3D Printing. We then 3D printed out the head of the mummy using our Z Corp Z510, the resulting model is now on display at the London Science Museum until summer 2014.
