Eichenberger Gewinde launches range of aluminium leadscrews

Swiss leasdcrew and ballscrew manufacturer, Eichenberger Gewinde, has developed a range of aluminium leadscrews. The company says that as the world population increases and steel resources decrease, there will be a growing need for lightweight construction materials that employ aluminium.

Eichenberger thread specialists look for non-standard thread geometries to solve problems. Depending on the requirements and dimensions, customised cold-formed high-helix and round thread leadscrews can be produced with high lead values, allowing high linear speeds with low rotary speeds. For example, whereas a metric M20 thread has a helix angle of 2.48°, Eichenberger high-helix Speedy leadscrews have a helix angle of over 60°.

Customer solutions can be developed upon request; to date the most extreme of which is a high helix leadscrew with a diameter of 8mm, but a lead of 600mm. The combination of these properties with the lightweight, non-magnetic qualities of aluminium allows the Speedy and Rondo leadscrew series to access a broad range of applications.
