IMO slew drives are ready-to-install, plug-and-play units with integrated ball or roller slewing ring and flanges to suit all standard electric and hydraulic motors and/or planetary gearboxes. Worm or pinion driven, the slew drives have a sealed raceway system and a housing that completely encloses the gearing.
IMO slew drives are used around the world in a diverse range of applications, including steering drives for specialised vehicles and heavy-duty transporters, grippers, lift platforms, forklifts, construction excavators, mobile harbour cranes and ship lifts, agricultural vehicles, forestry machines, theme park rides, offshore drilling platforms, grippers and other rotary devices. In the renewable energy sector, IMO slew drives are used in solar power trackers and small wind turbines.
John Loonam, technical sales & marketing manager, Great Britain and Ireland, commented: “We offer rotating solutions when moments or overhanging loads are a challenge. We therefore see huge potential for IMO slew drives in the UK and Ireland and look forward to engaging with new customers in these markets.
“IMO slew drives are patented, innovative systems that are extremely compact and do not require set up configuration. Our products are also backed up by an experienced team of applications engineers in Germany, which means we can customise slew drives to suit any customer application. We are currently seeking suitable distributors in Great Britain and Ireland for our slewing ring products, as well as technology partners for our self-contained slew drives,” added Loonam.
Besides slew drives, IMO manufactures a comprehensive range of large-diameter, anti-friction slewing rings that are designed to handle axial, radial and moment loads simultaneously. The slewing rings can be combined with pinion and have a sealed raceway system and an open gearing (if toothed).
