Leuze announces ‘world’s first’ barcode reader with integrated PROFINET

The BCL 548i from Leuze electronic is claimed to be the 'world's first' barcode reader with integrated PROFINET. The device is capable of being operated directly in PROFINET networks, and due to integrated switch technology, it can also be used in a line network structure. This minimises cabling requirements and offers a high level of transparency and flexibility.

The BCL 548i has a range of integrated protocols, designed to enable quick and easy implementation. No protocol converters are needed. The barcode reconstruction technology is said to rebuild barcodes from partial codes obtained across multiple scans and is also able to read damaged codes. The device also has an integrated web server for configuration, which removes the need to buy or download software. Parameters are transferrable by usb stick for easy swapping of units and standard M12 connectors and cables are implemented for quick and easy wiring.
