Low friction, lightweight, corrosion resistance. Reap the rewards of Nylacast’s materials technology.

How can you make small changes with big impact? Nylacast’s materials technology helps to deliver increased product, safety and efficiency to equipment, projects and companies across the globe. From simple light weighting of components to reducing the need for regular maintenance, Nylacast engineers focus on custom made products and solutions for all industries.

Similar to the precision and constant evolution we witness in Formula1, today equipment manufacturers across multiple sectors look in detail at their product efficiency and performance.

With thousands of materials available on the market which bring the most value? The widely available at the lowest price or a bespoke material for specific use? There must be a line between each extreme when making that decision.

Nylacast offer engineered products and materials with five decades know-how of developing materials technology. In-house chemists are able to custom formulate materials for more demanding applications. However, before offering this product and service range, a team of engineers will take a closer look at elements of the application including its environment, length of service, mating materials and many others before recommending a material which will not only suffice for the need but also strengthens the performance through delivering multiple benefits.

An example of this is a simple hose clamp. Commonly found on various pieces of machinery and equipment, its sole purpose is to hold a hose in place. Traditionally made from steel the clamp works in its application, with baggage. The steel clamp is heavy, prone to rust and corrosion and in need of regular replacement and maintenance.

Now take a Nylacast hose clamp and the materials technology allows it to perform the same task but with corrosion resistance, no need for maintenance, painting or protection. It is self-coloured and 1/7th the weight of the steel clamp. Multiply this weight saving by the number of clamps installed and there is a significant reduction in overall machine weight. This can help increase fuel efficiency and performance.

By understanding this example we can see how correct material selection, engineering know-how and product development can result in increased end user benefits by performing the same task, better.
