Precision industrial linear stage

The LS-110 linear stage series from PI provides sub-micron precision from an industrial design. Driven by a quiet two phase stepper motor and with re-circulating ball bearing guides and ballscrew the stage is designed for high duty cycle optical alignment applications.

The LS-110 series provides the end user with a cost effective reliable stage technology that maintains it performance over its operating lifetime. This helps ensure the integrity of the process where the stage is employed. The mechanical design, especially with the two phase stepper drive, is low in noise making the stage suitable for use in laboratory and 'quiet' industrial environments. Where operation in vacuum is required the stage is available as standard configured for 10-9 hPa.

The travel range options are from 25mm to 305mm with multiple stages configurable into XY or XYZ combinations. Operating with the optional centre mounted linear encoder closed loop performance is down to 0.05µm minimum incremental motion and +/-0.1µm bi-directional repeatability. Drive options include both DC servo and two phase stepper. The maximum velocity of operation is 90mm/s and the maximum load handling is 10kg.

A number of controller options are available from the PI range. These include low cost single axis controllers based on the company's Mercury platform or multi-axis controllers providing contouring and vector move capability.
